Re: Windows 95 Emulation

in Windows
Windows 95 games? As far as GDI/DDraw then Bochs/Qemu/VPC/Vmware will be fine. Vmware 5 incorporates some D3D8 support but it's pitiful compared to Cedega/Wine, in other words it's not worth using. The closest "emulator" which it isn't really for old Direct3D games is Wine/Cedega, there is no …

Re: Microsoft Windows 1.01

Windows 1x-2x are not supported in DosBox and won't be unless someone spends the time to fix them. Considering that they are not games it's doubtful that anyone will bother. Your better off trying Qemu/Bochs/VPC and seeing if Windows 1x-2x work in those.

Re: Genesia running slow

nah, "Top" is a command line program that you run from the terminal (Linux CLI) to monitor CPU usage (among other things) that your programs take up. "Dynamic" is in your dosbox.conf. Change core=normal to core=dynamic in dosbox.conf.

Re: Genesia running slow

Adjusting memory to 128 isn't going to do anything since DosBox only supports a max of 64meg. Heck, you could probably up it to 999 but DosBox will only use 64mb. Have you tried running "Top" or whatever other CPU utilization program your distro uses to monitor your processor usage? Chances are your …

Re: Genesia running slow

Have you tried adjusting cycles/frameskip in DosBox? DosBox gives you that error just in case 24bpp is causing slowdowns. Most likely it isn't and you just haven't modified your frameskip and cycles.

Re: Daggerfall again. I tried.

Loadfix uses up conventional memory for games that can not deal with the amount of conventional memory that DosBox offers. (You'd rarely see the amount of conventional memory that DosBox offers in MS-DOS unless you either removed everything from your config.sys/autoexec or if you had a highly …

Re: Fullscreen, yeah right!

Something just occured to me. You say that whatever changes you make to your .conf that they have no effect? How exactly are you running DosBox? Is the .conf that your modifying in the same directory as dosbox.exe or are you specifying the location of the .conf with the "dosbox -conf c:\Whatever\ …

Re: message: Illegal command: win.

or ask these people why they try to run Windows games in DosBox. I guess it's the ol' 16bit subsystem problem and they don't know the diff between DOS/Windows...they just want their program to work and since 16bit subsystem won't let their program work the assume their program is DOS based. I blame …

Re: Fullscreen, yeah right!

Well your LCD isn't able to set the resolution that the game wants. Fullresolution=0,0 simply sets DosBox to use the same resolution as your Desktop. In theory assuming that your Desktop is running at your LCD's native resolution. Have you tried using the scalers? Also exactly what output methods …

Re: Over 63MB allocation?

or (and it just occured to my slow brain), use Dgvoodoo/GlidOS with 9x/NT and simply limit the amount of DPMI memory allowed. Of course we should also lookout for .SWP files to see if RedGuard is using HD space for memory.
