Not a game, but I managed to find a floppy to the Cyrix 386/486 upgrade chip with the utility for activating the cache on the chip. I thought that might be a useful thing to have. 🤣

I'm going to have to download that, then. I always thought that the GeForce 6800 Ultra was the fastest card you could have under Windows 98 but I think the x850 XTPE is even faster. I think there will be one of those on my shopping list soon if there is a Win 98 driver available.

I'm just wondering why AMD would sell a chip with a reduced front side bus speed. That would make the performance seem worse when compared to Intels chips.

I grabbed that Gravis Ultrasound PnP clone that someone posted in another thread a couple of weeks ago. That was a great price for that card so I had to have it. A genuine Gravis is too pricey and I don't see anyone listing one for less than the current going rate any time soon.

A late 98 budget rig would most likely have been built around an AMD K6 up to 300mhz. They were a lot cheaper than Slot 1 systems so you would have gotten a lot more for your money and the AMD chips outperformed other Super Socket 7 competitors for the most part so that's where your money would have …

X800/X850 were a tremendous leap from the 9800XT and they handle high levels of AA and AF better than GeForce 6. The only downside is that there are not ATi drivers for Windows 98. GeForce 6 does have driver support for Windows 98.
