Re: Nvidia "G-Sync" announced

The caveat of this "Gsync" board and "Gsync" monitors is that it requires a GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost or higher GPU only. But will it work with AMD video cards? That's the big question. I don't think anyone is going to buy a monitor that locks you in with nVidia forever. I don't see much of a …

Re: Commodore 64 revival (warning, wall of pics)

Standard transformer-type PSUs rarely fail. Have you checked if it works without the cartridge? Mine will only power up if I have the Power Cartridge inserted about halfway in. The tape read errors may be caused by the tape head angle (azimuth) being out of alignment. That happened to mine only a …

Re: *Everyone* Into Gaming Videos Needs to Watch This

It was better for them to restore the video than to see their sales tank due to public outrage. A big software house like EA or Activision might be able to handle some negative press, but a small, indie developer can't so caving to public pressure is often the best option. Consumers are getting sick …

Re: Installing Windows 8.1 from 3 1/2" Floppy Disks

Some make strange bragging claims of owning floppy versions of CD only games. It makes you wonder about the intelligence level of the people making those posts. 7th Guest was part game/part interactive movie and those movie files are huge using the compression techniques of the day. There's no way …

Re: Good introduction to Star Wars universe via games?

So, as a logical progression, I should start with KOTOR? I don't mind going back and forth from new graphics/games to old ones, as long as the continuity of a particular era is maintained. :) KOTOR and KOTOR II don't follow the main story line, but are incredibly immersive and all the Jedi/Sith …

Re: Good introduction to Star Wars universe via games?

Actually, in both of these, you're the same guy. Somewhere in between, you gain Force Powers. Retcon. ;) Oh I am aware of that. :D People bitched endlessly about the lack of Jedi aspects in Dark Forces and so a sequel had some expectations. This outburst happened again when JK2 had you with no Jedi …

d1stortion wrote: Yeah there simply are not that many games that mirror the storyline that accurately. He said it himself that you need to watch the movies to get the whole storyline anyway. Only thing games can do here is get one interested in the whole franchise. What about the Atari 2600 Star …

Re: Ancient DOS Games Webshow

YouTube continues to be ridiculous. They're now asking me to prove commercial use rights to monetize Episode 48... which is already age-gated due to being a graphically violent game... which means it can't even BE monetized and I don't even get a tab to adjust monetization settings... seriously... …

Re: Rude/strange Ebay sellers?

I live in the UK and my nearest post office needs to be driven to thus thats part of the postage cost in my book as is the materials to send the item. it may only be a 20 gram CPU but in the years I've had selling items on eBay I would simply send anything in an envelope is a no no as its prone to …

Re: The dangers of moving

What really sucks is if you live in a country where vintage parts are hard to come by in the first place. For someone in the US or Canada the parts may be easy to replace, elsewhere it may not be so easy. Just a few parts missing may represent years of searching gone.
