Tried removing the RAM and drives, but still no beeps appear. (The speaker is not defective as it buzzes correctly with another board.) Also tried exchanging the processor with another good one (a Pentium non-MMX 166Mhz) but it still doesnt work. Any signs of motherboard failure? 😐

I have the 6577 one. It shipped with Pentium 133 but eventually upgraded it with Pentium 233 (running underclocked at 200Mhz as it is the highest processor clock speed). Unfortunately, the SDRAM is a SDRAM 5.0V instead of the regular 3.3V. 🙁

Have you tried a Realtek card? The Realtek 8139 card (and maybe other cards) are quite cheap and they are available everywhere. Just give it a try.

The real speed of LAN transfer on an 10/100Mbps network is around ~10,5 Mbytes/sec. So you might not get a full 12.5Mbps transfer rate. Have you tried another protocol other than HTTP download, such as FTP or SMB (or even trying to download using HTTP with a download manager like Free Download …

The USB PCMCIA card might be the newer CardBus standard (it uses the same pinout as the old PCMCIA). As far as I remember, CardBus is based on PCI rather than ISA, so it might not work in your ISA based converter.

Is the LAN and video connectors onboard? If it is not, how do you connect those cards and arrange those ports into a nice backplate? (I don't see any LAN cards or video cards on the ISA slot -- only the soundcard. Correct me if I'm wrong.)
