gfx card's companies and laptop vendors are doing the strangest things to those "mobile" graphics cards for whatever reason.

The (user-entered) entry there states that dosbox 0.60 may have run the game nicely, if you're using a different version just post your information there.

Maybe first try limiting it somehow, like disable sound, use the standard 320x200/320x240 video mode, try a different output= setting in your dosbox config file and things like that.

The manual niether defines "user's specific configuration file" Then check the sources, everything's there, write it up into nice flow charts and post them on wikipedia for everybody's information. Btwh. niether is a typo.

get the latest dosbox from www.dosbox.com Doesn't sound rude. Btw: there are simple ways to find out whether the GOG DOSBox has been modified, just let the user checksum the exe. Feel free to do that on the relevant occasions and post the results, including changes in the config files.

I am wondering if I need to incorporate that somewhere into DOSBox for my particular setup. There should be already some setenv of SDL variables in sdlmain.cpp, just be sure it's done before SDL is initialized.

So a new keyboard layout file (.KL) should do the trick? A .KL file for KEYB? No, KEYB only works on top of a correct keyboard layouting, if for some reason you want to directly enter an "@" you have to force the user to the US layout (keyboardlayout=none) and send the two keypresses to dosbox.

As everything else, leave the default because it's the default for a reason. vgaonly may not use standard resolutions, has possibly-slow features etc. VESA games run best with the default s3 selection as well.
