In the old DOS, it was possible to right click on the upper left corner of the DOS screen and then Edit - Mark and Copy the text No it wasn't.

I thought more of enumerating the available directx input devices and choosing a non-buggy one. No idea if it'd be possible.

That is not enough. You also have to add mount c .\folder in dosbox.conf and create a folder in dosbox folder. Yeah that sounds like a lot of work. Also dosbox.conf is in hidden folder. That's why you can create your own easily. But admittedly an independent unrelated release of exactly the same …

I don't see the need for a dosboxportable because dosbox is already fully portable in that you can just copy the dosbox.exe+config file around as you wish.
