It can be fixed by cputype=8088 I won't add that unless it's assured how exactly the respective CPU behaves in those cases. 386 core also has pentium stuff. No it doesn't, besides that there's no 386 "core".

Usually the graphics card's vsync option works (depending on the output= setting in your dosbox config file), besides that it doesn't matter if you're disappointed. And if you really want any help, start posting some RELEVANT information (you didn't even post you're using dosbox in your first …

I think that it's not a DMA problem, but that the IRQ never fires. Could make sense, i'd expect a default of 8 (initializing mixControl that way) to work in this case.

Could you please check if ultrainit.exe does such a write as well (not followed by a write to gusport+0x0b)? It might even be enough to use myGUS.ChangeIRQDMA = true; for the gus initialization code.

Please stick to one of the (legal) games you got, start with a clean dosbox installation (only the cdrom mounted and an empty directory for the c-drive) and post the exact steps you're performing and the error or the spot where you aren't sure how to move on.

I'm confused and pissed off.. my client buys new machines ... asks me to set them up.. we do it... it takes a days work ++... then they say.. oh and btw .. this 1985 software must work or we won't pay you... Install it in a virtual machine.

The s3 (86csomething) and elpin both modify 0x40:0x49 (same way as dosbox). The other bytes are most likely unmodified for the reason ripsaw mentioned (those special int10 functions are used to change the values).

Start over (ie. reset your dosbox config file) and post a screenshot of the console window right after you started dosbox (at the z:\> prompt) and a screenshot of the error that is displayed when you run the batch file.
