There's stuff that calls the invalid opcode exception directly, and some ad code that issues invalid opcodes but doesn't install its own handler (rather intercepts execution flow differently).

This is known, there should be some rather old thread about it somewhere. Usually 0xff 0xff appears if a game badly crashed, so it's still at an e_exit to avoid more trouble.

It should not ignore the hat switch simply because the emulated joystick does not have one. Don't see any problem with that.

There should be dos files for mktrilogy as well, read the instructions supplied with the game/installer. But it might not work in the last dosbox release, so you're better off with the windows version.

Your only choice is telling it how munch memory you want ? Yes, but the "allocate 128k and align address to 64k boundary" i've mentioned above works fine. ems and dma is a bit tricky, don't know how XP handles that.

Try executing the lines from the batch file manually and see where it gets wrong. Like check if there is a KILLER directory on d: and see if the executable dtvplay is present there.

DMA transfers are not allowed to cross 64k-boundaries (XP doesn't emulate this aspect). So a buffer can only range from for example 0x2000:0x0000 to 0x2fff:0x000f. If you allocate a buffer without caring about this, it can for example start at 0x2800:0x0000 but you get a wrapping at 0x2fff:0x000f as …

What are the symptoms that make it non-working? How does it behave if you type "loadfix -32" or "loadfix -16" before starting it?
