The question wasn't how to detect if a machine has an mcga or vga but whether there's some way to tell if a GAME supports mcga mode13 or requires a vga graphics card for vga mode13.

I think it was clearly stated that the point is to have ADDITIONAL EMULATED HARDWARE in the sense of graphics card types and sound devices, no idea where you're trying to get with posting crap about dosbox trying to target emulation of a pentium mmx system.

Won't help, and in general things tend to be much more stable under their own dos4gw instance (still swapping them with newer ones or dos32a doesn't hurt for testing).

Why? Why not? If I have a machine that runs MS-DOS 6.22, what does DOSBox do that it doesn't? Just have a look at your lengthy-commented dosbox configuration file.

It has already been debugged in-depth and these are plain programming bugs that occur under certain circumstances related to sound and processor speed/gameplay time which is why Qbix's recommendations usually give at least some more stability under dosbox.

So you are absolutely sure that the up-to-now only relevant information (you installed "it" on 2 nobody-knows-how-they-look-like PCs) is enough to give you any hints? Do you expect some "please use the secret do-not-crash-on-startup switch" reply?
