I'd expect it to react with "memory can't be executed" or so, but maybe that's the same. Should behave the same if you use core=dynamic, right? Got to see if mingw likes VirtualAlloc or something.

I'm currently running 2003 (32bit) on it and I noticed some problems with games\DosBox (only in dynamic core). Is it instability or does the dynamic core just not work then? I'm looking for somebody with the latter problem to maybe switch to a different memory allocation.

See the dosbox.conf settings under [sdl] (output= and the resolution= entries) as well as the [render] section, that is aspect/scaler. Maybe you find a combination that suits your needs.

Try dosbox 0.70 along with DBGL or DOG and have a look at the mapper (see the readme for explanations).

If you have the original cd just mount it correctly (-t cdrom, maybe adding -ioctl as mount flag) and install it within dosbox.

This IS the nontechnical one. Anyways, mount the cdrom, mount an empty directory as c: and then install the game (within dosbox, which is important).

For the sound stuttering in xcom3, try some high fixed value for the cycles (also see the readme).

Dunno, i only get it if i forcefully configure the sound with settings that are incompatible with dosbox. That is running the installer under plain XP resulting in irq5 usage.

Be sure the setting is saved. The game works fine with just a default dosbox installation and the sound of the game configured correctly.
