Try core=dynamic, also the cycles at 5000 might still not be enough. You can go (much) higher, maybe also try cycles=max.

That 1.0 freeware release seems functional. Maybe verify the contents of that BC3000AD.INI, also try something like "mount d c:\bc3 -t cdrom" depending on the .ini file. Oh and while at it don't use mount c c:\ but put the stuff/install it into some subdirectory.

Did you change to that directory/drive? Should look like mount c d:\oldgames c: cd mygame If that doesn't help type dir (inside dosbox when you're in that directory).

Yeah but some games are not that fast so even on high-end pcs you don't get pentium comparable performance. So better keeping it a bit more conservative 😀

Yeah but the point is that dosbox is mainly a dos GAMES emulator, so you can thank the guys around here that they're bothering with lpt stuff at all.

by replacing cdrom driver (one loaded in config.sys) with a stub one Maybe that could be done by grabbing some publicly available cdrom driver and replacing the atapi-interfacing with callbacks. But no idea if that's feasible.

mscdex acts (additionally) as block device driver so simply redirecting mscdex calls doesn't work.

You either installed it outside dosbox, or in dosbox with e: mounted as cdrom so you have to stick to the mount e e:\ . Use setsound or whatever configures the sound there and choose sb16 irq7 dma1

As MiniMax said increase the cycles. You might also want to try the combination core=dynamic and cycles=auto (see dosbox.conf).

Yep keyb cares about codepage switching (that is it integrates those mode con cp xx things) as they're closely linked to keyboard layouts.
