First of all, read the red text about mounting in your dosbox window. dd2demo doesn't work, don't know why. Crashes in different flavour when changing some configurations, but never got it to work.

Well format can't do anything as this kind of disk access is not allowed by dosbox (with the exception of disk images). Hm but renaming the executable to DOSBox would work as well? As that's how it is spelled officially. Maybe that can be taken into account next time, thanks for noting this!

Bochs has two different pit implementations, one of them has the status-reading function (not documented too well) so maybe i can check the behaviour against that implementation.

Sounds really odd. What SDL version is it? Does changing the output= in dosbox.conf work any better? Or setting the usescancodes=false? Maybe you could compile dosbox from the sources and see if it behaves different.

Seems to be hanging in a timer-loop. out 43,e8 in al,42 and al,80 je loop The out 43,e8 sets the counterstatus_set so they don't receive the counter (which they seem to expect) but the status reg. No idea how to fix it though.

Depending on how it was programmed, you might be able to change the drive in the pascal executable as well using a hexeditor. Also did you try some of those borland patchers? Hm not sure if dosbox is a bit too restrictive with this, if dos allowed for something like that it might be changed for dosbox as well.

Tried using regular mounts? Ie. starting up dosbox normally and typing in the mount commands? See the guide threads here on the forum.
