the 915gm is a pretty old chipset so its quite likely that it will only run at ddr2-533 speed. there is no need to concern about performance because thats sufficient for the cpu. you can plug ddr2-800 dimms into it as it only indicates the maximum speed that it can handle, anything lower than that …

i suggest using one, intel 486dx2-66s are all 5v models and consumes ~6.6watt, which is considerably hot.

as the title implied, there are two conditions: 1. the benchmarks are on windows graphics acceleration, not dos or raw 2d. 2. the cards are isa with graphics acceleration, including: ati mach8/32/64 s3 911/924/928/801 cirrus 5426/28/29/30/34 tseng et4000/w32i wd 90c31 and so on.

thats probably because 3ds3 only renders in phong mode, while 3ds4 defaults to the more advanced metal mode.

The best resolution I can find with the VIBRANT driver is VESA Super VGA (mode 6A). I tried all the options and only 640x480.16x and 800x600x16c work.
