If you want stability with a socket 775 system and a Quad Core at least 4 power phases for the CPU is pretty much a must have. found the problem, turned off serial and parelle ports on my motherboard, and boom SB16 is working 🤣 I've got to say, I don't know why it took me 3 days, for something so simple, I just havn't thought about IRQ's in a very long time.

oh yea 100% stable in safemode, but safemode isn't very useful for doing much anything and i looked for SB16 its not listed under system in safemode grrrr i think ill just run this machine with 2000 on it, and work on putting together a proper 1999 computer

should do rather well, a P3 1.4 is what about as fast as a P4 1.8 or Athlon XP 1600 correct? If so you should be fine.

Socket 775 is still very very expensive in the UK, though I find the prices for motherboards the most disgusting. Even a really shitty one has a minimum of around £30-35 and good ones don't exist (We love cheap ASUS, Gigabyte and ASRock in the UK and it is hard to source anything else new anyway, …

Well I transfered 230gb over that nic the other day, no issues at all, plus streamed media between the computers, need data on a bluray 50gb disk in main machine on my P4 no issues at all.
