Been having a lookout for some decent P4 gear on eBay and I must say that they aren't THAT cheap (yet?). Definitely not rock bottom, especially the "good stuff". I see a lot of 865 chipset boards, but hardly anything with the 875. Lots of OEM stuff, but not many top (Deluxe or similar) boards. Also …

Yes that's likely the issue 😀 Get that audio cable that goes from the back of the CD drive to the Sound Card. Also set the Audio mixer so that Audio CD is mixed through.

IMO OEM machines should be left alone. They usually work very well, just put in a Sound Card and off you go.

I found that you need to purchase a lot of games to do a wide range of tests. I checked reviews and they used a mix or some of: - Turok (I think this was a demo) - GLQuake - Incoming - Forsaken - Quake 2 - Unreal All of these have built-in benchmarks.
