Many notebooks had a scaling option in the BIOS to stretch to the full screen. Might be worth taking a look!

leileilol is right that PC games didn't really get an edge over the consoles until the 3D cards came. After that I don't think any console game has blown me away. I was a bit of back and forth for me. The Amiga was King back home for a while. Then PC games started using VGA and offered better …

For me it was Wolfenstein 3D. Simply blew me away AND it was fast on my 386. A lot of games after that were graphically impressive but also forced you to upgrade and it wasn't until you had a 486DX2 that Doom was really awesome 😀 Prince of persia also really impressed me.

DOSBox can be quite confusing when you are new to it. IMO download and install D-Fend reloaded, a user friendly frontend that comes with DOSBox. Then use the wizard to add your two games from the CD.

I found that DOSBox works quite well on netbooks as long as you stick with older games from the 386DX / 486SX era. Getting sound going on vintage notebooks will be a real pain unless they come with something onboard. Definitely check out some of the newer Pentium notebooks as the cache can be …

I could get a 20" 1600 x 1200 screen but they are harder to find and cost quite a bit. With such a screen 320 x 200 games display perfect pixels with no scaling issues. Such a screen does feel "too big hough" so I'd put the tower in the floor and push the screen all the way back. Even the 19" feels …

Are you sure it wasn't something simple like the adjustment being a little off? DVI isn't really prone to it, but the autodetection of VGA can sometimes result in slight position/size errors on LCDs, and that kinda looks like what was going on in your previous pics. Most halfway decent monitors …

I'm not sure I get why it scales that way horizontally... 1280/320 = 4 so the stretched pixels should all have equal widths. I do see a small amount of blending looking at those close-ups (nice photo work!) - still, it looks a whole lot better than the blurry mess that most modern LCDs produce from …

Yea having am MT-32 (Old) and CM-32L covers all your bases. Add a SC-55 and you have all the Roland modules you need. It sure does cost but prices will just keep climbing.

I can take more pictures if it helps? Anything in particular? The screen is scaling 320 x 200 to 1280 x 1024. So integer scaling doesn't work. Oh and I looked at the back of the LCD and it said manufactured in January 2010 😳 Not vintage at all 😀

You have other issues there. Reviewers use FRAPS to benchmark video cards. So it can't be that bad 😀 Have you tested CamStudio with DOSBox?

The Genesis brick works perfectly 😀 The other one should be fine just check the polarity (minus and plus) on the connector. Sometimes it's the wrong way round.
