The other thing you can do is enable display scaling in your Intel, Nvidia and AMD video driver to have the game letterboxed (4:3 but with black bars all around).

I think there is something you can disable in the BIOS. I remember someone telling me on this forum and it indeed worked. It was some setting related to the CPU. So take a look in the BIOS and see what you can find.

Yea a VGA to S-Video converter and then a USB S-Video capture device would be one of the cheaper options. Shouldn't cost more than $100 all up if you buy the parts from eBay!

My favourite Creative cards are the Sound Blaster Pro 2.0 and the AWE64 GOLD. But you will find that everyone has their own preferences. So ideally just buy a few cards, listen to them and choose your favourite. There are also many cards from other manufacturers which you might find interesting!
