Quickly remove the leaking battery before any more damage's done, and connect an external battery holder for 2 or 3 AAs on the pins 1 and 4 of JP3. Pin 1 should be positive and pin 4 negative.

I think I once had an old version of Microsoft Office(it would run on windows 3.1 so that was before 1995) and the disks were formatted at 1.75MB.

I've got an identical drive, with the only difference between mine and yours being the light. On mine it's red. That drive is the only part I've managed to keep from my first PC, a 286 my parents bought me back in 1991. 😀

That couple of cables ,which measure 5v, are only for the speed display. The turbo and power-on leds should be powered by the montherboard headers.

Yeap. If you find drivers for the network card, you can share a folder/disk on win98 and you'll be able to access it from the other PC. You can also connect the PC to the net if the second PC is connected.

If you take an ISA multi I/O controller, all of it's functions (serials/parallel/joystick and floppy) are done by the 8bit part of the card. I think those incompatibilities he mentions have to do with vga card/lcd monitor combinations and not with specific games. I remember trying an old card on a 17" LG lcd monitor and having problems, while the same same on a 22" LG lcd tv-monitor displayed perfectly clear......

I think that by default all vgas are compatible with ega and cga modes. At least all my cards up to 1993 do so. There is an easy way to check that. Try a cga/ega game. For example Prince of Persia. You can try to run it by typing prince -ega or -cga and see what happens....
