PC Zone FTP

Just found this (incomplete) collection of scans of PCZone Magazine from Dennis publishing. Issue 1 is there (from 1993), and it seems to go through to issue 110 (from 2001). Some great reading in probably the best PC Games magazine I have ever read. I subscribed from issue 7 back when you got one …

Re: Battle Arena Toshinden on Matrox Mystique

in DOS
Yep this is true. Sometimes the bi-linear gets a little washed out, especially on large surfaces with pixels of roughly the same colour making up the texture. This happened a lot in Twisted Metal 2 and the Test Drive games. The Mystique lacked the smooth looking filtering, but I also really didn't …

Re: Retro 3D Accelerator Screenshot Collection

Here is the result of a RageXL (low cost Rage Pro) for 3DMark2000. ftp://78.46.141.148/pictures/ati/ragexl_3dmark2000.png The Rage-XL cards looked cool though, especially the L-shaped ones. And they make a great partner to a VooDoo 2 on older windows 98 systems, as they give a great sharp image …

Seems he got a really good deal! :D Presuming I get any spare money around the …

Re: New Stuff :D

I put all my faith and hope into maybe one day I find an entire working 486 that has been lofted/garaged/skipped or maybe even in some old building that I am employed to renovate. Perhaps I'm charged with taking down an old corportate building, and while I'm cruising around I find the old computer …

Re: A sad day...

I'd rather put my hand in a blender than use a Duke Nukem mousepad, but that's just old prejudices. Anyways, back then the king of gaming surfaces was probably Allsop. They had a perfect cloth surface and seem to be made out of some alien synthetic material that just would not die. I too have one …

New Stuff :D

Visited my friend last night who works at a small computer shop. Obviously over the months lots of people bring their old, dead PC's to his shop and dump them on the counter, and most of the time they are persuaded to buy a new build. The cost is low and these people are just amazed at the modern …
