More good news! 16MB working with a different SIMM EDIT: Joystick also working (that's one thing I was also kinda worried about). So only thing left for now is the Wavetable ROM

Good news everyone! I managed to figure out what I did wrong (it actually came down to the ROM config solderjumpers). Card gets recognized by PNPMAP.EXE and the serial EEPROM can be flashed! Those work with uF and nF caps, but certainly not pF ones. I'll guestimate/try my luck with different values then ... or get familiar with amplifier circuits soon-ish (got sidetracked again).

Okay, slightly different approach and I get readings that seem to make sense. 6 caps probably have values too low to be read out reliably, but those should be calculateable.

Bad news among the way ... turns out the approach I took for the capacitors (desoldering and measuring out of circuit) is not going to work. i.e. the caps I'd consider decoupling measure at 0.1nF instead of 100nF, other readings barely make sense ... while I can do _some_ qualified guesses/safe …

The algorithms are universal no matter if implemented with software or hardware. I personally have been toying around with an idea of FPGA ISA card for some time. It could do anything with suitable adapters like emulate any sound card or be an SD card/USB stick reader for IDE/floppy/cdrom emulator. …

If it's largely based upon a software emulator I see no point to add another layer of emulation/simulation by building custom hardware - especially when the OPL3 is largely digital anyways.
