Re: Rendition Verité Speedy3D/RRedline info and pics

... In terms of gamesupport they are fairly useless as it is basically only Indycar Racing II ... For me that support is far from useless - it is enough, and well the worth 20-30 buck entry fee. ICR2 Rendition is a wonderfull window into early 3D, which racing sims were soon to adopt agrressively, …

Re: GAG and multiple legacy OS support

in PC Emulation
As an earlier poster remarked, the main reason to run W95 is to get some of the more "pesky" Win95 games running, as some them them are not terribly "forward compatible". Examples: Hind and Apache Longbow Win95/3dfx, EF-2000 V2 Win95/3dfx-Rendition, and Aces of the Deep can be trouble to get running …

Re: GAG and multiple legacy OS support

in PC Emulation
PLOP sounds good, but as a boot manager it hides the unbooted OS. With a separate drive for each OS you can sill see the other partition if needed, which allows you to fiddle with all your dos system and game files from within a Win session, something of a conveneience. While I've found reaching …

Re: GAG and multiple legacy OS support

in PC Emulation
You can install the second OS on it's own hard drive and dual boot by changing boot sequence in bios. Im doing that on my W95c/PCDos6.3 retro box - no software boot manager. BTW I second leileilol's suggestion about swapping dos for W95. In reality I hardly ever find myself actually booting to dos …

A trailing edge box, with added SSD boot/main app drive to make life easy. Price sans OS in budget. Prices mix eBay/Newegg: 50 ASUS M4A79XTD EVO [perfectly fine in Phenom/USB-SATA2 world] 50 AMD Phenom II 555 BE [unlock 4 cores, easy multiplier OC @3.8], or 965 and above if price is right 70 Radeon …

Re: Retro 3D Accelerator Screenshot Collection

Here is an quite interesting thread about CPU scaling of various Riva128, V1, Rush, V2 , V2 SLI, V3: http://www.voodooalert.de/board/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=12749&highlight= This has been always a hot topic :) looking at these charts I am inclined to swap the P3-533 for a P3-800 on my …

Re: Are there still PC games that we can't run?

in Milliways
Apparently, flightsims are the most problematic when it comes to modern hardware, and that's my primary reason to build legacy systems. :dead: Quite true - a significant portion of the games I have installed on various retro rigs are air combat sims. Another example is European Air War, and …

Re: Are there still PC games that we can't run?

3D games developed for Rendition Verite graphic cards - admittedly a small field but a retro box is a necessity. CART Racing/Indycar Racing 2 is a good example as the only accelerated release of this great early racing sim was Rendition only. Also some Glide games, like Longbow 2, get more and more …

Re: Are any of these games rare? DOOM, LucasArts, Wolf3D, Duke3D

in DOS
I'm no authority but I'd say if your Day of the Tentacle and Duke Nukem 3D are boxed originals [floppy version especially] they may fetch 10-20 bucks on eBay. You may see people asking much more as "Buy it Now" but I don't see much selling at those prices. The others are worth something if they are …
