Well, no luck with the USB keyboard either (tried all four external USB ports)... I'll do some search about the fuse (and maybe measure it to see if it's interrupted) - there are three green thingies in that area though, are so many fuses necessary there? :) I'm not sure the USB ports are fried too …

Unfortunately not - I'm hoping to get my hands on some Diamond Speedstars, but that could take weeks... All I have so far in the ISA area is this Elsa and three Tridents 9000 (B/C/i).

I could test an Elsa Winner 1000, but I don't have 233 MMX, only 200 MMX - does that matter much? Also, does the mainboard make a big difference? I have an Asus P/I-P55T2P4 rev. 3.10... I've read about two versions of 3DBENCH here - 1.0 and 1.0c - which one to use?

This is what I meant - I tried to use my PS/2 keyboard in an USB port, using that type of adapter that also has a green pigtail for connecting a PS/2 mouse. Successfully installed the drivers and got MP3s playing in DOS with DAMP 😀. Pretty noisy though, which doesn't seem to happen in Win95 (only tried Quake2 there to test some 3dfx cards)...

Well, the issue is not about the VLB slots - I just tested the VLB video card and it works in any of the three slots on the mainboard, but it still won't start with 30-pin SIMMs. Nothing comes out of the speaker (same thing - total silence - happens if I power up the board with no memory at all).

So far I've only had ISA video cards at hand, but today I've just got my first VLB card, so I'll give it a try when I get home. I must also admit I've never thought of attaching a speaker to the board - will try that too 😀...
