I've almost solved this. What did I do? I deleted C:\Documents and Settings\LocalService and C:\Documents and Settings\NetworkService. Then rebooted. I could install it in my Lenovo t61 laptop which also runs XP. The mini pcie intel WiFi card stopped working long ago. But it is quite the surgery to get in there. On your system, you specifically recall seeing an unknown device in the device manager prior to driver installation?

I suppose could move the gigabit ethernet + USB 3.0 card to the x16 slot and try the Broadcom in the x4 slot. I'm using the latest BIOS already.

A suggestion from Warlord corrected the MSI Installer and DCOM errors. Re: Can watch 1080 on Pentium III? Copy code to clipboard 1 regsvr32 MSI.DLL 2 regsvr32 MSIHND.DLL 3 regsvr32 MSISIP.DLL This is all I had to execute from Run.
