Offline H.264 doesn't intrigue me much these days, probably because my LCD television can stream all this stuff just fine. I have downloaded some Youtube videos and the Tualatin does seem to fare better with offline content. I don't plan on buying a new computer anytime soon, so no fear of getting …

So there weren't any memory expansion connectors on the VLB variants? That is really too bad. Its also surprising that ATI had the expansion connectors on the ISA PCBs.

Thanks for the insight. Yeah, unfortunately technological stagnation doesn't keep the economy flowing. Could a dual Tualatin 1.5 GHz, 4 GB system with HD 4000 can get any browser-based video acceleration in Linux?

Considering that my motherboard officially supports Coppermine Slot 1 CPUs at 1.65 V, it is likely that the VRM conforms to VRM 8.2. If I install the PIII-S Tualatin and leave the MSI's VID set to auto and the MB's screen stays blank, then could I set the MSI to 1.5, 1.55, 1.60, and 1.65 to see if …

A 1.1GHz Coppermine should work without any mods at all. You just need a Coppermine compatible slotket, my personal favourite is the MSI MS-6905 Master. There might be some cosmetic errors at POST due to the BIOS not recognizing the CPU though, which can be fixed by patching in the correct …

I can turn the fan's RPM all the way down to around 1200 RPM and the CPU temp doesn't increase. At full load, I put my hand on the copper coils and they aren't even warm. I feel like the Zalman is performing some kind of magic.

MCA is really uncommon; should make for a nice collectors item. I guess you could test and see what happens. I don't have experience with IBM PS/2's, but I'm sure someone here does. Can the motherboard's PCB handle 33 and 40 Mhz reliably? If wait states are needed, does the BIOS have these options? There should be plenty of TI 486DLC-40 chips around.
