Before looking into hot flashing the BIOS, which you need to do this in another motherboard, you should check that the cache jumpers are set correctly, and if so, try swapping the cache modules.

Which PCI graphics cards are you trying? Many of these older 486 boards will not work with graphics cards more than a few years newer. Try something simple like S3 Trio. Alternately, for more modern graphics cards, a Voodoo3 or TNT graphics card should work. The chipset on this motherboard does not …

Click "quick reply" then click "full editor". I checked and my Parhelia PCI already has the latest BIOS version. I tried the card in my Opteron motherboard in a standard PCI slot, but it seems the Vista x64 drivers do not work with Windows 7 x64. Too bad about your Parhelia not working as 1280+

Which version of Shuttle Hot-433? You can only down multiply the POD83 by removing the fan. The throughput results for your POD83 system are below optimal. I seem to recall my Cyrix MII CPU not performing well with my Asus P5A-B motherboard. You should at least run Speedsys to compare. There is an option to get the individual, numeric, RAM write, read, and move values for MMX and non-MMX instructions.

Where do you see the build of Everest? My copy says v2.20.405. I do not see a reference to "build" What memory scores do you get in Wintune98, Sandra99, PassMark, cachechk (RAM write access time), and Speedsys? Try comparing these with values found on the data table in the Ultimate 686 Benchmark …
