Measure the voltage getting to the CPU. Some CPUs wont run with 3.3V and require something a little closer to 3.45V.

Are the memory throughput results of the non-plus, K6-III 400AHX, the same with and without the resistor mod on your v1.06 board? Apparently the non-plus chips work fine on v1.06 and later boards, so just wanted to ensure that there was no loss of performance or stability.

64-bit (3.3-V, 66- or 33-MHz) Is that saying you can run 64-bit and 66 MHz? If so, that looks a lot like PCI-X to me.

Looks like the edit button has been removed. I was going to quickly edit the previous post to say that the benchmark with 9250 was done on a P4 Prescott and not a system with a CPU bottleneck, like the AMD K6-III. In short, I'm not sure if the 9250 is faster than the MX440 on these slower systems.

I run a PCI GeForce4 MX440 on my K6-III-500 system and ran some tests comparing it with a FX5500, GF2, etc. Even with the CPU as the bottleneck, the MX440 came out on top. Re: Best PCI VGA for a K6-III+

Well, not all EEPROMs. Some require 12 V and newer motherboards have a jumper to select 5 V or 12 V EEPROMs. I have not tried 12 V EEPROMs in a 386 and I use EEPROM chips on 5 or 6 of my 386 boards.

Any reason why you want to use a UV-erasable BIOS chip as opposed to an EEPROM? Assuming your BIOS is 28-pin and 64Kx8, which most of them area from this era, EEPROM's with part numbers W27E512 or W27C512 should work fine. I think that AMIKEY should work.

Try using a Voodoo3. I've read on this forum that the Voodoo3 doesn't use any of the advanced AGP functions and that socket 7 motherboards have issues with AGP features. Back in the day, I ran into all sorts of problems with AGP cards and socket 7's. I was also using an FIC motherboard.
