What was the target audience of the NexGen systems? And how was the cost compared to an Intel DX4-100 at the time? Given the low benchmark results, I am trying to establish where the market was with NexGen. elianda: Are the RAM and cache speeds optimised in the BIOS?

Why is there such a large gap in the Vidspeed results between the ET4000W32i and the Stealth 64 VRAM? For example, read at 640x480x256 on ET4000W32i is 7023; on the Stealth64 it is 2716. Same motherboard, but with an IBM 5x86c-133/2x, Ultra100 ATA controller, and Yamaha OPL3 sound. Taken by booting into DOS 7.1 instead of Win95. Try playing Forsaken with the Matrox G200 for a few minutes. Then compare it to the 3dfx and report back the difference.

I also tried Forsaken. Sitting at idle just after entering the game, the Voodoo2 yields 40.2 fps at 800x600; using the Matrox G200 at the same resolution = 37.5 fps. However, the game detail when using the G200 is a bit better. For me, I would definitely use the G200 over the Voodoo2 when playing …

CPUMark99 is only for Windows. There are CPU stability testing programs, burn-in programs, etc, which run the CPU at 100% for as long as you want. Personally, I like to let Quake autoplay for at least an hour and run MemTest for 24-hrs.
