I think that card would be much more appropriate in a Pentium 4 with RAMBUS or DDR. I doubt most Pentium III systems and just about everything PII and older would take advantage of the card and most likely, most of the card's features and processing power would be wasted.

Makes me wish I still had the old Intergraph Intense 3D Voodoo (same chipset; 8mb onboard) I gave away sometime early last decade. That card was the first 3D board I had and what I used when Half Life came out.

LMAO, what's wrong with the DiamondMax? My 866mhz PIII based Dell made in the middle of 2000 with a circa 2002 20gb DiamondMax and aside from making incredibly little noise, it performs well.

You could play DVDs fine on a Pentium MMX machine with the right video card. I think by the time AGP really started taking off in '98 or '99, most mainstream and upper video cards had built in MPEG support (I know by this point, the ATI Rage did).

I have a 3D Prophet 4500 as well. It's fan, however, sounds like an electric toothbrush. It seems to be a hit or miss type card a 2d is passable and 3D is excellent with about half the games I've used the card with and horrible with the other half.

It was Ruskova brand. Stuff is imported from Russia, comes in a nice bottle and is really smooth but yet, it's cheaper than Mr. Bostons. I think it must be made with slave labor.

I own a Hercules "3D Prophet 4500" agp card with 64mb memory and a PowerVR chip. Some games play better than if you had the latest NVidia or AMD video card but most look horrible. I find the card rather confusing.
