Re: Whiplash/Fatal Racing in 3dfx patch or mode

in DOS
Look harder! http://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?t=1456&highlight=fatal+racing Last post in that thread. Also they are statically linked so wrappers won't do you any good. On the other hand, kekko's 3dfx voodoo chip emulation works perfectly (well, there are some glitches but it's a work in …

Re: Two video cards in one Windows system?

So sounds like not too many people tried with more recent Windows versions. Suppose ideally, a dual boot setup might work best. Win98(or winXP since win98 may not like such modern hardware underneath) with older PCI card and Vista/Win7 for modern PCI-E card setup. Also, would be a bit more of a pain …

Whiplash/Fatal Racing in 3dfx patch or mode

in DOS
I see there is a official Whiplash patch that adds 3dfx functionality but where can one get the Fatal Racing 3dfx patch? Or maybe there never was one? I've tried the Whiplash one and it does not work. I found a supposed Fatal Racing 3dfx patch link in this forum but I think that is the 3D Blaster …

Re: Two video cards in one Windows system?

SKARDAVNELNATE wrote: Put a system together and find out. If it works you should be able to switch them through Display Properties > Settings. I'd be happy to but I don't have any PCI cards handy. Would have to buy one and don't feel like wasting $50 to find out it may not work.

Two video cards in one Windows system?

Tried to do some web searches but I can't find any solid answers. Wanting to run some older Windows games, is it possible to successfully run 2 video cards in one system? Say one modern PCI-E and one older or basic PCI. Use the basic PCI card for better compatibility. Then part 2 is can one be ATI …

Re: Carmageddon 3dfx very slow frame rates, why?

in DOS
Of course DOSBox runs the non-3dfx version, and the Glide-enabled version runs the 3dfx version. That's quite easy to understand. True, I was just stating that because I was unaware that different specific versions of Dosbox existed. Anyway, I've given up. Find it amazing that all of todays …

Re: Time to backup my entire CD collection

I have used Daemon Tools Lite to create images of most of my older game CDs. There are some game CDs that have a protection that does not allow DTL to create the image. There may be a way around it but haven't really looked into it very deeply. I keep those trouble games in a safe place being extra …

Re: Is computing as much fun as it used to be?

in Milliways
Lots of great points in here, brings back memories that's for sure. Dumbed down is my main beef. No one seems to want a plethora of controls any more like Mechwarrior 2, System Shock or Interstate '76. Complexity is now seen strictly as frustration instead of challenge. The ' Press A and something …

Re: Hyperblade way too fast when turning

in Windows
Found a fix for me. 3rd party app that allows GPU scaling on my X2300 ATI laptop running win7. Now I get full screen in Hyperblade, its stretched 640x480 but better than super tiny characters on screen. http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm?catid=279&threadid=125270 ATI GPU Scaling Fix v1.1 for …

Re: Carmageddon 3dfx very slow frame rates, why?

I've tried every trick in the book to try and get dgVoodoo to work native and in VMware(winXP). Native OS just crashes right off the bat. VMware does run with menus fine but once actual race starts its black screen. I've swapped out nGlides glide2x.dll with dgVoodoos and can get to race through …

Re: Hyperblade way too fast when turning

in Windows
NM. Few min after posting I realized it was running in non accelerated mode. Dropped dgVoodoo150 in the main dir, set it up, and now the game seems to be locked at 60fps according to Fraps. Menus are bit messed up but at least the game looks better and runs at a perfectly normal speed. Edit: Just …

Hyperblade way too fast when turning

in Windows
With the patch, got this game working fine in Vista64. Problem is when in the arena, turning is WAY to fast. Press left key for 1 sec and my character must rotate about 40 times. Forward seems normal paced. From the slow down utility thread, I've tried 1 cpu slow down program 'Cpukiller3' but that …

Carmageddon 3dfx very slow frame rates, why?

in DOS
I've gotten Dos Carmageddon 3dfx to work at any res with nGlide and gulikoza's version of Dosbox. Problem is frame rates are horrible. Hardware is barely loaded but frame rates are in the 7-15 range solid. GPU usage max is 30%, CPU is about 1/2 used max. Use cockpit view and frames are 4-10, jeez. …

Time Commando - windows version, crash after videos

in Windows
Hi all, been on a QUALITY game kick lately and since most new games are dumbed down crap, I've been bent on hitting the old stuff I own again. :) Time Commando installs and starts fine in both native Vista64 and VMware(WindowXP32), but soon as the intro movies are finished it crashes back to desktop …
