Probably nothing amazing hardware wise, but the fact that's its an industrial and different would make it a fun little project. I'd power it up as is so at least you can see what your working with and decide if its worth the recap.

I can't really think of a reason to use a Trio over a Virge if you have both. Maybe useful to harvest the memory to upgrade other cards (Yeh I don't like doing this either but options are limited these days) I'd let them go if your trying to clear out excess stock.

I'm not sure how it can cause Windows to hang. VGA is "dumb" as in is just outputs the signal, it doesn't know or care if something is attached to receive that signal or if its been received ok.
