Re: Doxbox and D-Fend?

Frontends are good and bad. They are excellent when you HAVE managed to install the game, but they generally suck when it comes to INSTALL'ing the game in the first place. And that is the first hurdle any newbie needs to tackle.

Not sure what you mean. When I look at the download page for the different language files, I see translations into Russian and Korean. If it works for those languages, I am sure it will work for Turkish too.

You have to think the other way around 😀 Ask yourself: How do the downloaded game want its world to look like? Which drives, which folders does it want to access? Once you know the answer to that, you use the DOSBox mounting to re-create that view of the world.

The CONFIG.COM program is inside DOSBox, on the Z-drive. Start DOSBox, and type CONFIG -writelang MyLanguageFile That will create the file "MyLanguageFile" somewhere on your computer. After that you can edit it with your favorite text-editor (well, almost - it might not work with all editors).

The sound (music) is not necessarily stored as files on the CD. It could be stored as audio-tracks which the game reads & plays. And those tracks can not simply be copied to the hard disk. You could try making CUE/BIN images of the CD's and use DOSBox to make everything run from the harddisk, but …
