Re: Abandonware and Dosbox

Just to illustrate (yes, they are real posts - not from VOGONS though) the alternative intelligence some people have: Hey everyone !! I already donwload the game SupaPlex and I need help I cant run it and I dont know why ... I love this game !! can you help me please ? And 5 minutes later: maybe I …

Re: Help installing DOSbox 0.70 on Mac OS X

DOSBox does not find a configuration file, whether named Dosbox Preferences, kept in /library/preferences or dosbox.conf kept in the dosbox executable's directory. Sorry for nitpicking here, but what do you mean by " does not find " ?? Could it be that it do indeed find it, opens it, but can't …

Re: Abandonware and Dosbox

I'm curious now- what's the actual VOGONS policy on locking/deleting threads where someone posts asking for help but mentions an illegally obtained game? I don't know if we have an official policy, except for this text which is attached to every page here: This site hosts no abandonware. There is …

Re: Fragile Allegiance crash

I don't think Vista plays a role here. That DOS/4GW thing is something that is/was used a lot in DOS-games by many game companies. Looks like it ran into a problem. You might want to search the forum for posts on how to replace DOS/4GW with a similar thing called DOS32A. It might just work.

Re: Tomb Raider S3 patch and DOSBox

abyss wrote: Isn't dosbox about full support. Dosbox doesn't even support windows 1.x and 2.x and 98 and 95 and it does not support 3d apis. Your still getting beaten by qemu and virtual pc on the early windows games support. abyss - For Windows games, you will need WINBox, not DOSBox.

Re: DOSBox CDROM difficulties...

Are you having the same kind of problems with Blood as these guys: http://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?p=102436&highlight=blood#102436 http://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?p=101835&highlight=blood#101835 http://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?p=100754&highlight=blood#100754 http://www.vogons.org/ …

Re: KQ7 CD-ROM

That would have to be a config option in dosbox.conf then since we'd run into a user who wouldn't want DosBox to mount the default directory. If said user put a mount-command in the autoexec-section, then a drive other than Z: would exist, and no auto-mount would occur. The only time a problem …

Re: KQ7 CD-ROM

WINDOWS \Games\DOS (Most non-noob's use a Game directory....it may be on another drive though. Permissions also need to be set if they are not admins. \Program Files\DosBox\Games (Permissions would need to be set) Please no - don't polute my root dir, or my programs dir with data-files. \Documents …

Re: KQ7 CD-ROM

So, what's the difference in your mentioned case if you mount specific directories or just one? The difference is that I can ask the n00b to completely erase, delete and burn the MyGame directory and then start over. If a common directory is used, then you need to 1) Know which sub-dir the game is …

Re: KQ7 CD-ROM

This shouldn't be up to just plain DosBox tho. This is really more of a frontend thing. Well.................. It could be. How about if DOSBox - when it reached the end of the autoexec section(s) and the end of any -c options, checked if any drives (except Z: was mounted)? If no drives were …

Re: KQ7 CD-ROM

So use this instead: mount c "c:\DOSbox stuff" No! My 60-seconds guide assumes that the installation is done completely inside the DOSBox environment. Mounting a separate MyGame directory for each install makes MyGame = C:\ for that particular game. If the installer creates a subdir for the game …
