Copying from a CD usually creates read-only files (and maybe also directories). Are you sure that the save-dir is not write-protected?

Sorry Drakon - I am just a normal, lowly user who occasionally have used VDMSound - I have no idea how to interprete those logs. One thing for you to try, is to find an old, fairly simple game that 1) can be run with VDMSound 2) uses SoundBlaster Then see if you can get the simple game to work with …

Either update your SiS 730 drivers, or try changing the output-type in DOSBox (surface, overlay, opengl, ...). Also check how many copies/versions of sdl.dll you have on your system.

That "Oops! You did something we didn't think of" error message must be a message from the game itself, right? It is not DOSBox that gives you that message?

I don't have that game, so... Perhaps you could start by posting the commands you used in DOSBox to mount a directory as the C-drive and your CD as drive D? How did you install the game? How do you start the game?

I supusse you refer to the typical volume control, don't you? General volume, Wave, CD Player, Line in, etc. Yep. Had to try the simple solution first. So, you can get the game/sound-setup to recognise the virtual SoundBlaster device created by VDMSound when you tell VDMSound to use Window's Wave …

Hi - I am not sure how to do this, but I think you can do it by having your fathers shortcut point to a BAT/CMD-file. Weird - I have Win95 and Win98 running on Bochs. It is a long time since I installed it, but I don't remember having any special problems....

Why did you copy the CD to disk? Why not mount the CD directly from DOSBox? Z:>mount D D:\ -t cdrom -ioclt Check the links in my signature for more info and examples.

Can you write EXACTLY which commands you used to 1) Mount a C-drive in DOSBox. 2) Mount the CD in DOSBox. 3) Start install.exe in DOSBox.
