My ears could be deceiving me and I don't know if this counts or not but I think Wolfenstein 3D (the very late versions of it) support 16-bit mixing but because only 1 sound is mixed at a time you don't really notice the dynamic range unless you hear a door closing at maximum range.

Oh... Sorry the way that was written confused me alot. You did a good job with the shader by the way, it looks pretty legit to my eyes. Too bad I hate the effect haha... I always turned that thing off in Unreal's software renderer.

Is that WINE problem or GPU problem? IIRC modern GPUs don't support dithering anymoe. I get no dithering even on a Mobility Radeon laptop (really REALLY old laptop too) so it's probably a GPU issue but there's more to it than that, stuff that's supposed to be translucent doesn't show up as …

Are you sure Dhewm is using your system installed OpenAL and not something provided with it? Most open source projects use OpenALSoft and not Creative OpenAL. I had a Creative X-Fi Titanium HD (PCI express bridge chipped EMU20k2 card) and Doom 3 ran just fine with it with the last OpenAL that …

I've been playing UT99 online with several well known mods, too bad most of them don't work properly online which I can only attribute to UT99's abysmal networking code. Unreal 1 mods work online so much easier than UT99, what the hell's the deal there?
