Re: US Navy still using XP.

I don't know where I read it the first time but the word "bribe" cropped up in my head. Sorry if I sound stupid... But it is very insane how much the governmental infrastructure relies on Windows, you'd think most of this stuff would be better suited to some form of *NIX...

Re: Making music with DOS

I too use only ImpulseTracker for MS-DOS, though I run it in DosBOX or a VM running MS-DOS 6 if I felt like experimenting with resonance filters. (Which I don't often, really would be brilliant if these SVN Builds of DosBOX Daum and such could handle MMX properly like VM's do) I also use …

Re: Programming DOS games

Jorpho wrote: Good $deity. Do you honestly believe that with no programming skill you could, on your own, be able to construct a first-person 3D engine from scratch? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQYsFshbkYw Bisqwit sure makes it look easy.

Re: Introducing... laxDRAGON

Marketing has been screaming at me for a mobile friendly website. Ew... Even more reason to hate on 2015. Or this whole generation spanning 2007-2015. And speaking of hand coding HTML, this is also how I work surprisingly. I also pay close attention to W3C recommendations and RFC's. You have a …

Re: Microsoft Xiao Na, the flendly spy

Not even close... I never understand how so many confuse Japanese with Chinese. Japan doesn't use Han characters in everything. This is basically the Chinese version of Cortana, and it's about as censored and monitored as every other China search engine as far as I know.

Re: Unreal

in Windows
I'm often told 225f is the version to play with Glide but I have a pentium 3 system with voodoo 2 SLI downstairs that get's major FPS tanks whenever elaborate dynamic lighting occurs or multiple fire textures show up.

Re: My mother died last week

I don't think Kreshna's hyperlinks qualify as proselytism, they're wikipedia articles. I've often hyperlinked words to relevant articles to explain what the word means. But anyways, again. I wish the best of you Kreshna, your mother had quite a well lived life it seems. Really amazing story you've …

PeterLI wrote: I would however leave religion out of it. IMO you are proselytizing very aggressively. I'm not quite following where you're seeing this proselytism in Kreshna's posts? He just appears to be paying his due respects to his departed mother, in my eyes.

Re: Game versions and collecting

No, the only way a "downgrade" patch could exist is if the 224v and 225f patches existed without the delta compression method. ut436nodelta patch is the only thing that can overwrite a GOTY version of UT99 to make it appear like a retail version, for example.

Re: Game versions and collecting

Speaking of protocol changes. Unreal was quite notorious about that, and there are people still trying to get pre 224 stuff working under 224 and beyond. And that's really weird about platinum collection CD. I always wondered why those mods were on the CS disc.

Re: My mother died last week

I've been through loosing my grandparents on my mother's side of the family, so I know how sad it is to loose someone like that. Sorry to hear about this happening, Kreshna. My mother has survived breast cancer, quit smoking but recently after the incident that nearly claimed my father's life ( …
