+1 for the AWE64, and no need to hunt around for a Gold. They're overpriced and add nothing except RCA outs - the Value's 3.5 audio jack is more useful. Dunno about the XP factor but in '98 the MIDI volume level slider is mislabel in the mixer - something like "video". Un-mute that and try again.
