I rebooted a couple of times and now the system boots, and the sound card is recognized, but there is no longer any sound in Windows. I'm not sure what's going on with this. I also found that if I load the DOS drivers before Windows, then several other device drivers will load and I have full …

The latest 7.00b WDM drivers are crackly when the sound output is too loud (such as the Windows startup sound). I found version 5.80, which doesn't have this issue with the WDM driver. But the VXD driver causes the system to lock up after it boots into Windows. Is this the same problem you had?

Yes, it's the same thin client. Mine is the T5510 (800 Mhz Transmeta), but it's the same thing as the T5710. Exactly, that's what Fortex is all about! How much space do you have there? Fortex is 45,76 mm high (without the PCI edge connector and without the top expansion header). Can Wing Commander Privateer run from within Windows 98 without rebooting into DOS? I get an EMS error when trying to run the game. It would be nice if I could get it to work without the extra step to reboot.

It's possible to rebuild pads, but it's very difficult to do.

This is also a great trick for removing the old socket as well. It's a lot easier to remove one pin at a time than to try and remove the whole socket set once, since invariably there will be a number of joints that won't release cleanly without some mechanical force.

The voltage may be high because there is no load being applied. This is very common on linear supplies, and older ones tend to have a pretty generous range due to the poor tolerances of cheap supplies of the time.
