Why should GLQuake's memory usage depend on the resolution? For software Quake I'd agree, but with OpenGL nearly everything should reside in the video card's RAM.

Since that wasn't mentioned, you can obviously use it for disk caching (smartdrv). This is especially useful if you use a period correct HD.

Which card do you have exactly? 16MB cards are usually Rage 128 based, when I search for "rage pro 4xxl" I mostly get hits for "Rage 128 Pro 4XL".

PowerVR cards need lots of CPU horsepower to really shine. A P100 is not a good choice, Voodoo1 would be much faster. Both cards cards should yield similar performance in glQuake with a faster CPU, though.

Actually, I wouldn't use an ISA video card for a P200, except to slow it down. If the mainboard doesn't have PCI slots I'd probably look for a different mainboard/system.

I think the best video card here really depends on what exactly you are looking for - DOS performance (VGA/Mode-X/VESA), Glide-compatibility, Direct3D/OpenGL (which resolution? which games?). For a 450MHz CPU a Geforce2 MX might be a good choice, if you only use lower resolutions or don't need too …

That combination should be period correct. Still some games may use timing loops that are not long enough for faster CPUs, so if you didn't experienced this with all games I'd accept this as an explanation.

Agreed regarding compatibility, but the manual even for revision 1.0 of the Soyo 5SSM mentions support for 2.0V and K6-2+ so I'm pretty sure it would work. There is also an official BIOS listed on Jan Steunebrinks page: http://web.inter.nl.net/hcc/J.Steunebrink/k6plus.htm

Paradise WD90C31 should be 1992. Limited to 1MB, but so is ET4000AX.
