Re: Unfinished Adventure Games

in Milliways
While I'm at it, someone rescue the "Babylon 5" sim from Sierra that was about 94% completed when it was cancelled (while at the same time "Professional Bullriding" was given a "green light"... *cringe*). Seen this? http://freespace.volitionwatch.com/babylon/ It isn't Into the Fire but it'll …

wait a sec... FFVII still sucks on XP! On top of the fact that the sound is screwed up, it crashes in certain places on XP - most noteably on the chocobo races. Eidos in fact says that FFVII shouldn't be run on XP, iirc. What on earth about FFVII could make you like XP!? Under Windows 2000 FFVII …

Re: Joystick problems in XP-DOS

I'm curious as to why he's running it through the Game port in the first place. Does VDMSound require it? I have that same joystick (I think, mines a Wingman Extreme Digital 3D) and Logitech supplied me with a Game -> USB connector so I use that.

See, everything I've come to like about XP came later, I only upgraded because I didn't have the patience to wait for people like DosFreak to come up with a stable 2000 solution to the problems I was having with Final Fantasy VII and with XP looking like it provided the solution (which it did, at …

tbh, I've seen better templates than this one but given the "one of a kind" nature of this board people are going to be coming more for the info than the aesthetics. It could also use a couple more hacks, one I miss in particular is the "Quick Replay" hack which I'm used to (it sure beats loading …

Re: Descent 2 Screwed Up!

You see, had he actually read my post properly he would have realised that I wasn't trying to discourage Arn from at least trying GliDOS as a possible solution to the problem. Descent 2 is the only game I own that is on the GliDOS compatible list and I'm perfectly happy to play it without the 3D …

Oh, I know that Luna is a cheap ripoff of Aqua and doesn't quite come up to the latters standard, in either appearance or functionality but its still light years ahead (in both categories) of previous Windows GUIs. Trouble is, a lot of people aren't giving it enough of a chance to see that. I know …

*cough,ahhem,Stiletto...* Dude, Windows Classic interface is the cleanest, most productive GUI you can have. Big buttons = less functionality. Unless you need big buttons, which you can actually change the size of in the Classic GUI. Besides, the bold colours that XP uses are UUUGLY. Funny thing is …

Just remember though to keep the Descent (1&2) framerate below 60fps (yes, even on a P2 400. If my P2 400 can go higher than that, yours will too) if you want good joystick/mouse sensitivity. You'll definitely need some kind of source port for that. You'll find some here: Descent 1: http://www. …

GliDOS and Descent 2

in GliDOS General
Quick question: Descent 2 (and Descent 1 but since that isn't supported by GliDOS it doesn't matter) has an issue whereby as the frame increases, the mouse sensitivity decreases. The only way to fix it is to reduce the framerate to something below about 60fps. Does GliDOS offer this facility at all …

The Windows version is also available as a patch on Interplays web site. At least it was last time I checked. If it isn't I think I still have a copy of it here somewhere (it used to be necessary to get it going under Windows 2000 even if it was included on your CD. Another reason why I'm never …

Re: How to get Adlib sound support on WinMe?

in DOS
Well, Live!Ware didn't really give me all that much trouble back then. There was the issue of the presets disappearing from the launcher menu in Windows 2000 and these DOS driver issues in 98 but that was it.
