Make a bin/cue image of the CD, put that image on the netbook and use imgmount in dosbox. Alcohol 120% makes good images.

Hmm, I'm using burn to burn images to CDs but haven't noticed that it can save as bin/cue image. As for Toast that one is expensive and I'm also not sure whether it can convert to bin/cue. I can't say how to do the thing qbix suggests on OS X but I'd advise to make a bin/cue image out of the CD. Unfortunately I haven't yet found a good mac app to do this, last time I had to I ran Alcohol 120% in a Windows VM to achieve this. My strongest point for doing a bin/cue image is that the …

Megabuild of dosbox (google it). Dosbox itself doesn't have any lpt port support since it doesn't match dosbox gaming only goal. Megabuild does but I'm not 100% sure it would work in that way

But then we can say it has nothing to do with dosbox. @matador: don't go searching for a vnc dos program to run inside andosbox. Look for a native android app. Further andosbox questions direct at the andosbox author. He sold you this thing so he should support it 😉

Best try with plain 0.74 Dosbox or even better a pure SVN built, whether the game works there. Also try with a clean conf ( for example memsize shouldn't be that exceedingly big - most games are happy with 16, some rare ones won't like above that, some won't like above 32).

Technical explanation, dosbox uses the SDL library for interfacing with the OS and hardware. This sounds more like a bug with SDL than with Dosbox. New ubuntu might not fix that. Use google to find out whether this is a known bug between ubuntu and sdl. Also please search here for ubuntu, there …

Make sure that the function keys are not assigned to global functions in OS X keyboard preference (and that you don't need to press fn+f keys to get the fkey functions).

Sounds like a problem with sdl (you might need to upgrade to development version of the 1.2x branch of sdl). There was another ubuntu problem I think, maybe sound related. Take a search here.

Try to install in the folder the installer suggests and not in the root of the mounted c drive.

If all else fails, start fresh and install the game again from cd IN Dosbox. You are again mounting the game folder as root. This indicates you might not have installed it in Dosbox.
