Eventually I had settled on a combination of batch file and a reboot program. Game specific autoexec.bat and config.sys were saved as game.bat/game.sys and "boot game" would replace the root autoexec.bat/config.sys with those of the game and reboot the computer.

at the time of the PPC Macs, I'd never have thought of switching, but I did eventually switch two years ago and never regretted it. I've started using PCs in the time right before Windows 95, so I got to live through the autoexec.bat/config.sys hell when every game more or less needed more or less …

Macbooks DO feature tap clicking, people just need to spend a second in the settings. Nuisance? Only if you aren't able to figure things out... Of course I don't know how that od thing behaves... Toilet seat to play WC... 😉

Cd music not repeating, there are two solutions, try a new svn built of dosbox as something in that regard has been fixed. If that doesn't fix it, ripsaw posted a program that helps as well. Just yesterday or so in a carmaggedon thread.

You need hals megabuild and you need to install windows on a hd image from which you boot in dosbox. You also need some drivers in the host (only Windows?) I think

yes, windows 3.1 is 16bit, but install Win32s for being able to install some 32bit stuff.

Dosbox runs on Windows 7. No matter the version or processor. Try your stuff out with dosbox.

Kind of, if you can avoid it avoid it, otherwise be aware of it having potential to be a problem. For example a sound card shouldn't be on the same interrupt (but a sound card should be on slot 2 or 3 (and the onboard sound disabled in the bios).
