./configure --help might give you the swich for pointing at SDL if configure doesn't find sdl on its own

you can do it via applescript. When dosbox is running you can just have it (AppleScript) execute keystrokes... (and Qbix way might be better for what you are looking for)

Snd since we are on yet another thread, for fdisk and format, find and use a DOS 5 or 6.x boot disk image. You don't need to be fixated on the freedos stuff, the filesystem will be the same either way...

You can boot from a floppy (at leat I think you can) if it is a dos you try to boot.

you need the boot command of dosbox coupled with the freedos image. The readme has something on the boot command. Just mounting the freedos folder and changing into it does not mean you are running freedos.
