I'd try the CD first to see if the problem exists for the "real" game as well. It showed a couple of times that downloaded copies have problems.

It emulates the PC Speaker sound via the system's sound card, not the actual system's speakers.

compatable for IBM 286, Windows 3.1 & 95. Windows 64 bit doesn't like 16bit programs that's why it doesn't work on XP64 (at least I *think* that's the reason).
