Re: Advice on purchasing a gaming videocard

Drivers where you can't even configure individual games without external tools, and that in 2013. Get your facts straight at least ... It seems they included this with version 13 just last month. Great news, one of the most basic features is finally available in 2013. What a pity that the X1950 Pro …

Re: Advice on purchasing a gaming videocard

Just the fact that they don't release new drivers for some of their older cards (even DX10 generations) is unacceptable. NV released drivers for cards as old as GF6 (!) just until recently. And they improve their old cards with new features, like the FXAA I mentioned before. On ATI/AMD you can't …

Re: Advice on purchasing a gaming videocard

Yup, Nvidia's FXAA alone is worth it IMO. My old 9800 GTX+ still plays some newer games in full settings with it, has almost no framerate hit :) Unfortunately the promising FPS limiter doesn't seem to work for me... You will notice if your PC shuts down, BSODs etc, if your PSU still has some basic …

Re: Advice on purchasing a gaming videocard

I checked and your 3870 has a TDP of 106. A 7850 is supposed to draw 130, a 660 140. You could probably still get away with that... @vetz: Radeon cards suck 😀. Drivers where you can't even configure individual games without external tools, and that in 2013.

Re: comparing win95/98

After so many years of using win98SE....win95 does seem somewhat limited.....quite a few things reminded me of 3.1...even though 95 had the new interface. Overall I think 98 lasted a lot longer in the marketplace.. Comparable to Vista and 7, I don't think a lot of people are using Vista anymore by …

Re: The Joys of Physical Media

Don't forget the real name crap in the new battle.net games. How does that enhance my game experience? I reckon that others might see it differently. And those FMV games were a stylistical choice, because the devs thought it might be cool to use the new possibilities etc. Here they are just …

Re: The Joys of Physical Media

Nah. I like to play games regardless of their time period. But if it's more about adding facebook features and real money auction houses than genuine gameplay I'm rather sure my disapproval is not just due to rose-tinted glasses 😀

Re: comparing win95/98

Solution? I swapped the drive letter between the real CD drive and the virtual one. Now my D: drive is a Daemon Tool virtual drive, while my real CD drive is Z:. How do you go about that in 98? Doesn't work for me neither from My Computer nor with the "label" command. Setting the CD audio drive to …

Re: comparing win95/98

I haven't tried it out, but here someone said it does work on 95. But impressive that MagicDisc works with that CPU, I'd imagine there could be a minor framerate hit with demanding games though... I think most of those virtual drive tools claim CD-DA emulation, DAEMON Tools does too. It would be …
