I have to echo Jepael's voltage testing. My 386/486 motherboard had issues with a corroded AT power pin and it made the MOUSE not work (serial ports) until I fixed the corroded power pin.

Just another caution. BE EXTREME CAREFUL. I fixed a CRT of mine a few months ago...but sheesh, hearing and knowing how much voltage is in those things made every minute of working on that pretty scary. Make sure you have one hand behind your back while working on that thing.

I got six 486/pentium motherboards in for $50 shipped. One of the 486 boards had the ODIN chip on it, dead...and wouldn't let me go past the BIOS boot screen. Even rebooting it, it would only allow me into the BIOS, and not further. So, I did the ODIN battery hack, and put on a spare lithium battery …

Also.... Tell them that you WILL pick it up, even if you don't want it repaired. My local guys HATE CRT repair because when they give somone a quote, the people just tell them to keep it..... That's a pain for disposal!

Quality 286 and 386 hardware is starting to become scarce, IMO. Those are once every 6 months at my local thrift store. I grab them immediately. On ebay, not so scarce. 486 and Pentium 1 hardware is pretty common on ebay but getting difficult to find at my local thrift store. I pick up the 486's... …

I did a quick look through on Stason.org....the main identifier is six ISA slots with keyboard controller and BIOS chip between ISA slots and RAM..... I didn't see a match, but doesn't mean its not there. Someone here back in 2004 was looking for the same motherboard: http://www.motherboards.org/ …

Just a small update... The motherboard wouldn't boot again. However, I pulled the BIOS and keyboard chip. The pins look a bit tarnish on both chips now...which is odd, because I remember them not being so tarnished. I shined them up with a metal file, put them back in the socket. Now it boots again, …
