Tried another BIOS chip and no POST either. That chip contains an earlier version of the BIOS (07/11/98 S, newer one is the latest vanilla 1999 BIOS). Trolling aside, I really wonder how would a Socket 478 P4 HT (regardless whether it was Northwood or Prescott) would have managed with a HD2900XT, or maybe even a HD4850.

About two very slightly bent pins on the SB, but which seem to go to the AT/ATX jumpers are what I just noticed now. I'll try bending them back very carefully and check if there's any change. PS: Salutare din Bacau! 😀

I even tried a 2.5GB HDD (Caviar 22500) and same thing happens. Original BIOS supports up to 32GB, the BIOS I downloaded and hotflashed supports up to 128GB.

Hotflashed it with the Rev D BIOS. I can now boot CDROM, but HDDs still have the same issue where they get stuck after detection. marxveix - the only controller I have on hand is some Goldstar (I think) ISA controller from a 486, and I'm not sure if that even works with newer boards.

CD Boot apparently doesn't work either - it will show the drive reading (used a 2K SP4 disc for that) but will still stay at the Boot from ATAPI CDROM screen. I'd try floppy boot... if any of my floppy disks would work in the first place.

2 ISA, lots of PCI and AGP narrowed down the search to Soyo K7AIA, Gigabyte 7IXE and the MSI MS-6167. I may be wrong, but wasn't 3x ISA a Intel 440BX thing mostly?
