Re: Ancient DOS Games Webshow

You're getting feedback from your target audience (I'm assuming Vogons members are part of your target audience or this thread wouldn't exist). I would imagine that's pretty important to you. How you choose to respond to that feedback can say as much as your content itself. That's the spirit …

Re: New DreamBlaster S2 !

in Marvin \ Sound
For me it's the simplicity. Grab an ESS AudioDrive or Audican 32 Plus, put the S1 / S2 on and off you go. It's with minimal fuss and you get an immediate upgrade over FM in a ton of games. It doesn't and isn't meant to compete with the big boys from Roland or Yamaha, but the price reflects that. I …

Re: Ancient DOS Games Webshow

I'm not usually trying to be negative, though I understand it comes across this way sometimes due to my low-pitched voice, I just try to be logical and point out technical things. I never give numerical scores to things because often times, even if I don't personally enjoy something I recognize …

Re: New DreamBlaster S2 !

The first thing that comes to mind is that Windows is a PnP OS and your PCI configuration may be set to PnP (Auto) and DOS can't handle that well; have you tried setting your ISA/PCI slot configurations manually in BIOS? Sadly yes, that one was really probable and I was certain that playing with …

Re: Flashing BIOS to ET4000AX?

in Marvin \ Video
Ah I see, so it's not just a matter of running a utility and flashing the BIOS. A programmer and a flash chip are needed. Unfortunately I don't have a programmer and since this "L" character is not uncommon for these cards I might just pretend that I value its individuality and leave it alone :D …

Re: Troubleshooting Voodoo1 on a pure DOS Pentium1

in Marvin \ Video
Also, have you tried to see if it works with one of the EARLIER BIOS versions? It could be a PCIset issue that presented itself in a later BIOS and went undetected as Voodoo cards were not a thing back then.. Now that's something I haven't tried. I'm not sure though how I can, there doesn't seem to …

Flashing BIOS to ET4000AX?

in Marvin \ Video
So I’ve got this ET4000AX card (based on the FCC ID it’s from some unknown Taiwanese company called Bona”) that I want to use. The card is perfect for my needs with one exception: It has some weird representation of the lower case “L”. I tried, but I just can’t get used to it. File_002.jpeg SCREEN01 …
