Not suggesting that this is the case, but BH6s are notorious for bad capacitors. I haven't seen a single one that hasn't developed issues until now. Are you sure the timing is not just a coincidence? Just throwing in an idea to consider.

Make sure you have fdisk /mbr 'ed the sandisk card and then run sys again on it.

Don't be confused by the aztech drivers not detecting the card. The installer is searching that sound galaxy card in particular and doesn't continue if it's not present, it doesn't mean that it can't see any compatible card.
