What on earth did you do to these photos and why? From what I can make out there is quite a lot of corrosion, even under chips/connectors, but better pictures are needed. I'd try removing one or two after cleaning to see what's going on underneath.

I think when the "cache bad" is displayed, then it's disabled like disabling it manually from the BIOS. I bet if you run the same benchmark with the 80MHz crystal and cache disabled you'll get even lower results

I'd say it's very good, on the fast side of dx/40's and there is no need to do anything else. Gains will be minimal and of no practical use. Unless you're seeing this as a find-the-limits project, there is no other need to pursue that extra 0.5fps

HJSplit is a popular utility I use rar in these cases, the windows/modern side can create backwards compatible multi-part files and on the retro side even the dos version has a nice gui to easily decompress them without searching for the correct parameters.

Just select "auto" in types 120GB on socket 7 is not common at all, but not unheard of either. I have an Intel m/b with an official BIOS that supports that size (At the same time there are slot 1 m/b that don't go above 32GB!)

I maybe talking nonsense here, but how is the fan wired? Maybe the control pin (if it has one and the laptop isn't complaining when it doesn't read the rpm) can be removed so that it always runs at full speed
