Always use FPM, only a few motherboards support EDO but don't take any advantages with it. My guess would be the motherboard can't take it. You can always check with other memory modules if you have any spares. Try with only one installed module. Check what is the model of your Soyo motherboard. …

If your 486 board is also only ISA based then I don't see a problem using ISA riser. But if you have VLB or PCI, then you're sacrificing performance (video, i/o).

I don't see a problem with supporting any 5V DX2 cpu. It might support ODPR overdrives - depends on the socket type.

Don't know who buys at those prices. A few months ago prices for i5-2500/K were around 20-30€. i7-2600/K for 40-70€. 3rd gen from 30 to 100€ - 3470 to 3770 on eBay.de.

Not much difference in performance between DOS versions of ACAD 12 and 13. R12 is little "lighter" and a bit faster. Anyone knows of a program that supports Cyrix EMC87? I'd like to test it in a "real world".

I actually like this board. Maybe because it was my first 386/486 combo 😉 Only Ti486SXL 5V isn't compatible with it. SXL2-66 works fine.

I found these chips locally - just 9 pieces. They were made in 1999. I agree the memory subsystem is pretty bad in this one. But also other combo 3/486 boards aren't any better, unfortunately 🙁

That's what my tests show. But I only use Winbench and Wintach for testing 2D operations. I've done this a few years ago. I think the Mach64 ISA is a DRAM version. Now I also have VRAM and it's around 20% faster in Windows. I've tested with fast 5x86 processors. With something like 386 things could …

They still pretty much rely on the CPU. Like I tested with AutoCAD. In FPU benchmarks you get big differences. But in ACAD it's just a few percent. If you change CPU from 386DX-40 to 486DLC-40 it's bigger improvement, than from the worst FPU to the best one.

Depends on what you're after... Mach64 ISA is a bit slower in DOS but much faster in Windows.
